[Help] Updated TOS and Jellyfin, now TV clients don't work

Post by bloodylunatic »

Hi,

I recently updated my TOS to v7.0.1298 and Jellyfin to 10.11.11 and since then I can only access Jellyfin through a web browser on a PC. The Jellyfin client on FireTV or GoogleTV (both are Jellyfin for Android TV 0.19.10) returns a message "SSL Handshake Failed". Some googling hints that this may be related to the version of TLS that is allowed by the built in reverse proxy on the TOS. I'm not sure how to change this or if it is the actual issue.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello,

Since Jellyfin works correctly in your PC browser but the TV clients report SSL Handshake Failed, we recommend checking the server address configured in the TV clients first.

Please ensure that the protocol, IP address, and port match those used in your PC browser. For example, if you access Jellyfin via http://NAS_IP:8096, please configure the TV clients to use the same address.

If the issue persists, please provide the full server URL configured in the TV clients and let us know whether connecting directly to the NAS via HTTP resolves the issue. This will help us narrow down the cause.

Hi,

The TVs are configured to connect directly to the server using http://172.27.72.21:8096/ but I have also tried using the autodetect with the same result. This address works properly from a PC.

Thanks,

Thank you for providing these details. Since Jellyfin works correctly on your PC using the same HTTP address, while the TV clients still report SSL Handshake Failed, we need to investigate whether the issue is related to the connection process on the TV clients.

Could you please help us with the following tests?

1.Check the Jellyfin server logs while attempting to connect from the TV and see whether any corresponding connection requests or errors are recorded.

2.Provide the Jellyfin Android TV client logs and the TV's operating system version.

3.If possible, clear the Jellyfin app's cache or remove and re-add the server address on the TV, then test again.

I finally got it working by disabling HTTPS in the server address settings in Jellyfin. I don't allow access outside the local network so it's not a big deal for me to run it this way. Thanks for the help.

Thank you for sharing the solution! We're glad to hear that the TV clients are working again after disabling HTTPS in the Jellyfin server address settings.

This suggests that the issue was likely related to a mismatch between the client's HTTPS settings and the server's connection configuration. We recommend ensuring that the protocol used by the client matches the protocol supported by the Jellyfin server.
